Dhwani is a non-profit organization based in Bengalooru, Karnataka. It works to strengthen and deepen education in Indian language mediums. It does it by inspiring teachers with insights about life and education; increasing their self-respect and self confidence; and strengthening their subject knowledge along with teaching learning methods and materials.

Currently Dhwani's work is focused on Kannada-medium education. We are also in the process of creating simple resources in many other Indian languages.
Philosophy/Beliefs
- Children who are naturally and healthily rooted in their own culture and language, grow up to be healthy and strong human beings. Only then do they have the strength to observe, judge and absorb what is good in other cultures and languages. Hence mother tongue as the medium of education is essential
- We have to have an atmosphere, which helps teachers experience the joy of learning and teaching. This will help them transmit the joy of learning to children
- Deepening of teachers' subject knowledge is very important. It is as much as, if not more important, than teaching learning methods and materials for them to be able to teach well.
Dhwani seeks to:
- Deepen the education process, especially in Indian language mediums. Dhwani looks at education in a broader sense, in terms of the personality of the child, and not only as a means of skills-acquisition.
- Work with interested teachers
- Strengthen teachers with various types of training inputs, teaching learning methods and materials and ongoing interaction
Dhwani's projects
Dhwani has been involved in various projects over the last 4 years. Poorana is a project for classes 5,6 & 7, Aarambha is a similar project for classes 1 to 4. Chitrana is a project in which Dhwani personnel explore various historical and cultural sites and photograph them.
Resources Available
Dhwani creates resources supporting the primary school syllabus of the Karnataka State Board. Resources are created for:
- Kannada Language, Environmental Studies and Drawing for 1st to 3rd Stds
- Kannada Language and Social Studies for 5th, 6th & 7th Stds.
Dhwani resources are not for sale. They are made available to teachers and children participating in Dhwani's projects. But we never disappoint truly interested teachers.
