About Revive

Revive is the Learning Network's annual magazine, distributed at the network's annual conference. Revive aims to inspire, challenge, and connect educators and parents by providing a sharing and learning space for their multiple voices in redefining education. There are numerous efforts (small and big) by individuals and organizations to critically reflect and revive the spirit of education, pedagogy, classroom interaction, curriculum, and policies. Revive provides a space to express these efforts emerging from dynamic and diverse learning communities. The articles in Revive offer refreshing ideas on education and integrate theoretical and philosophical perspectives with practice. Revive offers a space to reflect on action, learn and spur new actions through these reflections. We invite contributions to Revive that address the spirit of education such as:
  • What does education for life and through life experiences look like in the classroom, at home and in the community? How can education address human nature and become ecological centered in addition to being economic centered?
  • How can teaching and learning in the classroom lead to increased self-awareness, and a just, equitable and peaceful society? How does one develop the spirit to inquire, understand and act on the problems in our world today?
  • How can teachers be supported in developing classrooms and curriculum that support children's natural sense of inquiry?
  • How do we address the issues of class, caste, gender and abilities in our classrooms and enrich the experience of children in conventional schools?
  • How can we create holistic learning experiences that integrate various disciplines and connect to local contexts?
While we have tried to make these guidelines as broad as possible, if you have other ideas and formats for articles please send it in for submission and we will consider them for publication. If you have already submitted an article for Revive in the past and plan to write to on the same topic, please consider what new information and ideas you can share. Please send your submissions to learningnet.india at gmail dot com.

  • Please include an abstract of 50 words at the beginning of your article, and your contact address (postal and email)

  • We look for engaging, and concise writing that is descriptive and original. Please avoid jargon and rhetoric. If you are quoting or paraphrasing other articles, websites and books, please reference them appropriately in your article. We suggest using pseudonyms if you are referencing teachers/students in your article to protect their privacy.

  • While we understand that there will be variation in writing styles, we will be editing and reviewing the article for overall consistency in terms of length, clarity, content (flow of ideas, analysis etc.) and structure (spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure).
